How Are Real Estate Professionals Compensated?
COMMISSION BASED
- REALTORS® are commission-based professionals that earn income when they succeed at selling your home.
- Historically, commission has been paid by the Seller at closing and includes the Listing Agent/Broker commission and cooperative compensation (buyer agent commission) to the Buyer Agent/Broker.
- The Seller can choose whether or not to offer or negotiate cooperative compensation to a Buyer Agent/Broker.
- The Seller cannot advertise the offer of compensation on the MLS but can advertise via other means such as printed material, signage, and direct communication between Listing Agent and Buyer Agent.
- Buyers can instruct their Buyer Agent to include cooperative compensation (buyer agent commission) as a term in a purchase offer.
FIDUCIARY DUTIES
LifePoint agents are affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS®, Association of REALTORS®, Columbus & Central Ohio Board of REALTORS® holding licenses from the Ohio Division of Real Estate. They uphold fiduciary responsibilities to clients, including loyalty, confidentiality, disclosure, obedience, reasonable care, diligence, and accounting. You can rely on them to provide guidance, advice, and protection throughout your home buying or selling journey.
