About Gahanna
Gahanna was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849. Gahanna is derived from a Native American word for three creeks joining into one. The village is committed to foster a climate of “community” that allows businesses and residents to work together to improve the quality of life in the area.
Gahanna offers an eclectic mix of galleries, stores and boutiques, filled with exceptional treasures, offering an experience like no other. Attend award winning events, experience the unique Creekside shopping and dining district, and one of the area’s hottest blues and jazz festivals in the summer.
Nearby shopping is available at Easton Town Center with hundreds of retailers. The Parks and Recreation Department maintains twenty-six community and neighborhood parks, including a skate park, dog park, veteran’s park, nature preserve and athletic parks. Two public pools are also available. You can enjoy paddle boating and fishing, as well as cycling and walking along Big Walnut Creek Trail. Several area golf courses are just minutes away.
The Gahanna Jefferson School district includes seven elementary, three middle and one high school, as well as the Columbus Academy. A branch of Columbus State Community College is located inside the high school. Housing is readily available in surrounding areas. Conveniently located near to I-270, Gahanna is just minutes from downtown Columbus and the Columbus International Airport.
